Migra-Sion, 2013
2 Color prints on Dibond
2 x (105 x 70) cm (1/8)
1 x ( 90 x 60) cm (1/20)
The two photographs, taken in the Judean desert, evoke the exile of the Jewish people, “the children of Israel”, scattered across the globe.
In the first photograph (left), the giant Israeli passport becomes a shelter for the artist, who left the diaspora by acquiring Israeli nationality.
In the second photograph (right), the artist questions the absence of a formal constitution to which to refer as an Israeli citizen, and the implicit reference to the founding text of Judaism (the Ten Commandments).
